Is your hair up to there with frizz? Don't go out the door looking like you've been struck by lightning! Whatever your hair type, we've got solutions to help you conquer the frizzies.
Start your anti-frizz campaign in the shower, by using a moisturizing shampoo and conditioner. (Brands that make great ones include Finesse, Infusium 23, Thermasilk and Nexxus).
When you're done, gently squeeze hair with a towel to remove excess moisture. (Don't rub with the towel though - that causes frizz!)
Help hair retain moisture and combat frizz all day by applying a glop of frizz-preventing cream to wet strands. (Two products we like are John Frieda Frizz-Ease Corrective Styling Gel, and Sebastian Laminates Cream Styler Anti-Frizz Control).
Blow-dry hair using a natural-bristled round brush to smooth out tresses. (If you prefer to let hair air-dry, just brush it smooth under a blow-dryer when it's 99% dry to help it lie flat).
Finally, to give locks a super-smooth and shiny seal, apply a teensy dab of shine serum. (Try Citre Shine Shine Miracle Anti-Frizz Polishing Serum, or TIGI Bed Head Girl Toys Shine Serum).
Hit the showers with a moisturizing shampoo that's made especially for dry hair. (Two drugstore brands that we like are Thermasilk Moisturizing Shampoo For Dry Or Damaged Hair, and Finesse Moisturizing Shampoo For Dry, Course Hair).
Follow up with a rich conditioner (such as Garnier Fructis Fortifying Cream Conditioner for Dry Or Damaged Hair, or Thermasilk Moisturizing Conditioner For Dry Or Damaged Hair). Only partly rinse out the conditioner, to help weigh down your curls (and prevent frizz from forming).
When you're done, gently squeeze hair with a towel to remove excess moisture. (Don't rub - that creates frizz!) -To help your curls form pretty spirals (instead of a frizzy mess), apply a holding product that contains aloe. (We recommend Finesse Touchables Mousse Curl Defining for Curly or Wavy Hair, or philosophy curly head, silicone hair serum).
Let hair air-dry (hands off, touching causes frizz!) or scrunch hair while using a diffuser to blow-dry.
If you want to loosen/straighten your curls a bit when they're dry, smooth a bit of straightening balm over the top layer of your hair. (Good ones to try: Citre Shine Get Smooth Straightening Balm, or Binge Ultimate Smoothie Straightening Balm).
The first trick to preventing frizz in your 'do is to avoid over-washing. Shampoo hair only once a week, using a moisturizing shampoo. The rest of the time, keep hair protected in the shower, or just rinse with water. (Good moisturizing shampoos for you: Nexxus Therappe Luxury Moisturizing Shampoo, or Phytologie's Phytocitrus Shampoo).
When you're done, gently squeeze hair with a towel to remove excess moisture. (Don't rub - that encourages frizz!)
Before drying or roller-setting as usual, apply a good anti-frizz serum to control flyaways and keep hair texture as smooth as possible. (Try Phytologie Phytodefrisant Relaxing Balm, Tigi Bed Head Control Freak Serum Number 3, or John Frieda Frizz-Ease Hair Serum).
