EXPERIMENT WITH YOUR HAIR!

It’s always fun to play around with new hair styles. Surprise your friends, when you go back to school, with a new do’. You could try a temporary hair color, find a cool new way of wearing it, or maybe just get it cut or trimmed. Make new looks on your own, or get a friend to help you experiment.
Bonus: Scoring a hot new look can boost your self-confidence too!

VOLUNTEER!

If you are feeling generous, why don’t you donate some of your time by volunteering? There's no better cure for boredom than helping others who need it. Volunteering will make you feel really good about yourself, and it's great for those you give your time to. Check out your local community center for volunteer postings, or ask your folks to help you find volunteer work in your area. EXERCISE!

Why not use your spare time to get a firmer, leaner body? Start a new workout now and you can get into killer shape by the time you go back to school. Try a workout that gives you both aerobic and strengthening benefits, like power yoga, jogging, rock climbing, swimming, hiking, etc.
Bonus: Toning your body will give you greater self-esteem!

LEARN TO COOK!

Now here's a new hobby that will make everyone in your house happy. Get out your mom's recipe books and try whipping up some deelish treats! If you want to score extra bonding points, ask your mom to help you get started.
Bonus: You can use your cooking skills to impress your (current or next) boyfriend!

REDECORATE YOUR BEDROOM!

Ask your parents first and if they agree, go to town on your room! Come up with a theme (like "Ocean" or "Paris"), or just organize and improve the current setup by rearranging your furniture. While you redecorate, organize your stuff and throw out or give away trinkets, doodads and clothes you no longer need.
Bonus: You'll sleep better in a beautiful room!

READ GREAT SUMMER BOOKS!

During the school year, you have to read what's assigned to you. But during the summer months, you are free to curl up against a tree and read whatever you want. There are some awesome books for teens and if you haven't read them, you don't know what fun you are missing! Check out the Myjellybean.com article Great Books to Read This Summer for our recommendations.
Bonus: You'll have something interesting to talk to your friends about!

CATCH UP ON SUMMER MOVIES!

Are there some movies that have been released for a while but you haven’t gotten around to seeing? If this is the case, then go out and rent a few flicks and have a movie watching night with your friends (or by yourself). Check out Myjellybean.com article Great DVDs to Watch This Summer.
Bonus: Watching flicks is a fun, inexpensive activity that can be done solo or with others!

HAVE A SLEEPOVER!

If your closest friends are in town for the summer too, then why not have a sleepover party? Invite them all over and just have a fabulous, girly time! You can play around with makeup, do manicures, style each others' hair, play "Truth or Dare", videotape yourself, sing songs, dish about guys... et cetera!
Bonus: You'll get even closer to your friends!

START A JOURNAL!

Buy a blank journal and start writing down your thoughts. You may even get into writing poetry, songs or short stories! But just recording your random ideas and opinions is okay too. Or, you could start an Oprah-inspired "Gratitude Journal" and write down three things every day that you feel grateful for.
Bonus: You could discover a hidden creative talent!

WRITE LETTERS!

If you have friends who are away at camp or out of town for the summer, make their day by writing them a real letter on stationary. Getting a letter by mail is really special - it's way more meaningful than just getting an email. Your friends will be really pleased and impressed. If you don't have anyone in particular to write to, try writing a letter to your future true love, to your future self, or to the child you want to have someday. It sounds weird, but doing that can really help you to focus on what's important to you, which in turn will get you thinking about how to get "there" from here.
Bonus: You'll get closer to your friends (or your inner self)!
