Black Cat Cupcakes (makes 12)
-1 chocolate cake mix
-12 Oreo cookies
-1 can of chocolate icing
-Black licorice whips
-12 jellybeans cut in half
-Semi-sweet chocolate chips
Heat oven to 350°F.
Prepare your cupcake pan either by lining with paper cupcake cups or by spraying with a non-stick spray.
Next, mix the cake batter as instructed on the box and add the cookie crumbs. Mix well.
Spoon the cake batter into the cupcake pan.
Bake until the cupcakes spring back when touched, around 25 minutes (or as stated on the cake box instruction).
Allow to cool.
Decorating time! Open the Oreo cookies, and create the cat faces right on them, using the side with white icing. (The extra cookie parts - with no icing on them - can be put aside, or you can snack on them).
Use licorice whips to make the cat whiskers, jellybeans for the eyes, and chocolate chips for the ears.
Once the cupcakes are cool, you can frost them with the icing from the can. Then press a decorated Oreo cat faces on top of each.
Cut another piece of licorice and place on the back of the cupcake for your cat’s tail.
Bloody Popcorn
Put a hunk of butter in a pan on the stove to melt (use low heat), and add a little red food coloring.
When the red butter is melted, pour it over your popcorn as usual.
Don't eat this stuff in your good clothes - the red food coloring can stain!
Boo Bites (makes about 4 dozen)
-1/4 cup (1/2 stick) margarine or butter
-30 large marshmallows or 3 cups miniature marshmallows
-1/4 cup light corn syrup
-1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
-1/3 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
-4-1/2 cups Rice Krispies cereal
Line a cookie sheet with wax paper.
Melt butter in large saucepan over low heat. Add marshmallows.
Cook, stirring constantly, until marshmallows are melted. Remove from heat.
Add corn syrup; stirring until well blended.
Add peanut butter and chocolate chips, stirring until chips are melted and mixture is well blended.
Add cereal and stir until well coated. Cool slightly.
With wet hands (to prevent sticking), shape mixture into 1-1/2 inch balls, placing them on the prepared cookie sheet.
Cool completely in the fridge.
Creepy Crawly Jello (serves 8)
-1-1/2 cups boiling water
-1 large package orange-flavored gelatin
-1-1/2 cups cold water
-Gummy worms candy
Stir boiling water into gelatin in large bowl at least 2 minutes until completely dissolved.
Stir in cold water and pour the mixture into a pie plate that has been sprayed with no-stick cooking spray. (Place pie plate on a tray before pouring in gelatin to prevent spilling).
Refrigerate about 1-1/2 hours or until thickened
Draw a spoon through the mixture to make a "ditch" and push the gummy worms into the gelatin.
Refrigerate 2 hours or until firm.
To unmold the gelatin, dip the pie plate in warm water for about 15 seconds. Gently pull gelatin from around edges with moist fingers. Place a moistened serving plate on top of the pie plate. Flip the pie plate over, holding the pie plate and plate together. Keep holding them together and shake slightly to loosen. Gently remove pie plate and center gelatin on plate.
Crusty Booger Balls
-1 (14-ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
-5-1/3 cups flaked coconut (about 14 ounces)
-1 large 8-ounce package lime-flavored gelatin
-1 cup ground, blanched almonds
-1 teaspoon almond extract
In a large bowl, combine the condensed milk, coconut, 1/3 cup of the unprepared gelatin, almonds, and almond extract. Mix well with a large mixing spoon or rubber spatula.
Cover bowl with plastic wrap and chill for about an hour or until mixture is firm enough to mold in your hands.
Scoop by 1/2 teaspoonfuls and shape into various-sized booger balls.
Place them on a baking sheet, lined with a sheet of waxed paper. It's fine if they are different sizes. (After all, each and every booger is unique and special, lol).
Place a second sheet of waxed paper on your work surface and pour remaining unprepared lime gelatin on the center of the waxed paper.
Roll each ball in gelatin to coat well and create a thin outer layer. Then place back on the baking sheet.
Return boogers to the refrigerator for and hour befofe seving, and store any extras in the refrigerator.
Eat Your Guts Out (serves 4 as appetizer)
1 potato
-1/2 cup cooked spaghetti
-3 Tablespoons grated mozzarella cheese
-1/4 cup tomato sauce
Bake potato. Put it in the oven wrapped in foil for an hour at 350°F. Or, you can microwave it (unwrapped - DON'T use foil) for 6 minutes, THEN wrap in foil and let it sit on the counter for 5 minutes.
Split the baked potato in half, place on a plate and refrigerate until cool.
While potato, cook the spaghetti according to package directions. When it's done, run it under cool water and drain well.
Take the cooled potato out of the frige and scoop 2 Tablespoons out of each half of the potato.
Fill the scooped-out parts with cooled spaghetti, then top with tomato sauce and sprinkle on mozzarella cheese.
Place in oven or microwave until cheese melts.
Serve warm.
Wormy Baked Apples (serves 6)
-6 large Golden Delicious apples
-1/2 cup raisins
-1/2 cupchopped walnuts
-1/2 cup (firmly packed) brown sugar
-1/4 cup water
-1/4 cup butter
-1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
-6 Gummy Worms
-Can of whipped cream (optional)
Heat oven to 350°F.
Core apples from blossom ends, leaving stem ends intact. (Don't core all the way through!)
Mix raisins and walnuts and stuff into cavities of cored apples.
Set the filled apples, right-side up, in a 7 x 12-inch pan.
In a 1 to 2 quart pan, mix brown sugar, water, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Stir over high heat until mixture boils.
Pour hot syrup around apples and bake them, uncovered, basting occasionally with syrup, until apples are tender when pierced and skin begins to crack, 30 to 35 minutes.
Remove apples from oven; cool in pan at least 10 minutes or let cool to room temperature.
Set each apple in a small bowl and spoon syrup around fruit. In the top of each apple, cut a hole large enough for one of the candy worms and tuck one end into each apple, leaving most of the worm dangling.
Offer whipping cream on the side.
