Dear Jellybean,
Hi. I'm 15 years old and have a 34/36 A/B bra size (I'm in between). Also, I'm "uneven". No bras fit me right because I'm in between and all are really uncomfortable. I'm sure a lot of people have this problem, but I can't stand the way they feel. I've tried so many different brands, sizes, cuts, shapes etc. I've tried both underwire and wire-free, and I've discovered wire-free is a little more comfortable than underwire-but still very uncomfortable. For the past month or so, I've been wearing a lot of tank tops under my shirts instead of a bra. This is a BIG problem. I need support and I know I'm contradicting myself because I want supprt and I don't want my nipples to show, but I don't like the way bra's feel. I think the problem for me is that I don't like the way any of the bras support me-I just want my shirt to stick out straight across my chest instead of having two little points come out at the biggest part of my breasts. I had the idea to just get like a "sleeping bra" or one without padding and use nipple covers (which I saw you suggested to someone). Is that the best thing? I know I have a lot of issues with this. Sorry it's long and any advice would be greatlly appreciated!
Dear Writer,
Have you considered wearing a sports bra? There are tons of bras out there that are made of stretchy cotton, so they're comfortable and let the air circulate, but also give you some support. It's like wearing a tube top under your shirt, which is a lot more supportive (and nipple camouflaging) than just wearing a thin tank. A well-fitting sport bra can give you that "straight across" look you're hoping for, as well as keeping you from bouncing around when you walk or jump around. Check out your local sporting goods store, or bra store, for options. Some clothing retailers also, such as Gap Body, carry good sports bras.
